More Sanding...
As we said earlier, once the car is painted it need to be
sanded again. This phase is called "color-sanding" and is done
withvery fine grit sandpaper using a wet-sanding technique. The object here
is to remove surface variations in the paint often referred to as "orange
peel". Once the paint surface is perfectly smooth, several coats of
clear-coat will be applied to give shine and "depth" to the finish.
The paint used on the Oldsmobile was from House Of Kolor,
and the clear-coat was PPG.
After the clear-coat is applied, the paint is then buffed
out. A special glaze is applied and the paint guys hit it with the power
buffers.
Almost there...
Fresh paint and chrome makes the motor look as good as it
runs.
