1959 V8 Powered Bus
On the old set-up the oil coolers from the old stock VW motor
were put to work keeping the old 283 cool. We going to remove them and let
an Atech Motorsports Aluminum radiator and dual electric fan combo (also
from Atech) do all that work.
The engine installation is nearly complete. The "cage"
around the engine has been replaced, but modified so that it can be removed
again without having to cut through it.
Here's a good look at the rebuilt Tempest-Torque/Turbo-350
transaxle.
Rich gets ready to fire up the new motor for the first time.
Once the engine was running and tuned we took it out for a test drive (see
video).
A trip to the dyno shop got everything dilaed in right.
Even though we had replaced all the stock brakes, the bus
just was not stopping as quick as we wanted so it was decided to replace
the stock brakes with a disc conversion kit from Custom Speed Parts in Germany.
