Bored & Stroked...
In case you were wondering, that big hunk of metal behind
the radiator is a small-block Chevy motor that's been bored and stroked
to 427 c.i. Forged and coated 14:1 pistions are connected 6" H-beam
"Eagle" rods.
A pair of Dart machined-aluminum cylinder heads house hand-ported
and polished valves (208 intake, 160 exhaust), and competition, small-base,
solid rollers (270/266 duration at .50 and .689/.681 lift).
Also included in this package are Magnum roller rockers, competition
girdles, rev kit, heavy-duty valve springs, 1000cfm Holley carburetor, and
MSD distributor, coil and ignition box.
A 2700 cfm Cooling Components electric fan will be used to
pull air accros the aluminum Fluidyn radiator. A Billet Specialties Tru-Trac
serpentine belt system will keep the water flowing and cooling.
Instead of a standard vacuum powered power steering booster,
we are going with a hydro-boost from Power Brak. The hydro-boost hydraulic
pressure to apply pressure on the master cylinder rather that engine vacuum.
In this application we are using the power steering pump to power the hydroboost,
so we have to make sure we use a heavy-duty PS pump.
To hold the extra fluid needed by the power steering / hydro-boost
pump, a remote reservoir has added next to the radiator overflow.
No bulkhead fittings for this Vintage Air unit, the hoses
are going under the firewall.
