Baracuda Hood Modifications
Earlier modifications to the grill, also required modifications
to the hood. The stock hood dips down slightly in front, but the new custom
grill piece requires a slightly changed hood contour. Basically, the hood
had to be "flattened" back to front.
We also replaced the old spring-loaded hinges with gas-shocks
custom hinges and boxed them in.
The throttle body on the Cuda's Hemi required further modification
of the hood beyond just flattening it. To provide the needed clearance,
the inner support ribs in the middle of the hood were removed and replaced
with a flat panel plug-welded to the brace edges. The new panel allows room
for the throttle body, provides the rigidity of the former ribs, and looks
better to boot.
The new latchs are stock VW/Audi.
The recess in the forward corner of the hood (picture on right),
is for the hood bumper stop.
