Old Seats Refurbishment
Very often we end up discarding the old seats and replacing
them with aftermarkets like those from Glide Engineering. Keeping the old
seats and refurbishing them is usually reserved for stock restorations,
not resto/mods like this. In this case though, the seats themselves become
part of the resto/mod process.
The seat bottoms and backs are going to receive new springs
and and get a thorough going over. Meanwhile, the front seats are going
to have their bases and mounting hardware modified to make them sit lower
in the car.
The refurbished seat frames are mounted in the Cuda.
Time to do the back seat. We start by stripping off all that
decrepit upholstery.
New springs and frame supports.
The old plastic armrest panels for the back seat were in sorry
condition and and just wouldn't do for the planned interior design, so Robert
goes to work making new onse out of sheet metal. The new panels will also
be modified to fit it with modifications made to the convertible top hardware.
