Once the car was finished, Randy Martin flew out from his
home in Michigan to take his new toy on a shake-down run to the October
2006 Temecula Cruise.
While at the Temecula Cruise he had an opportunity to show
his car off to Paul LeMat, who starred as Bobby in "Aloha Bobby &
Rose". Paul was impressed by the car and suprised that anyone would
go through the trouble of building replica. He also commented that the original
was hard to get in and out of because of its full roll cage and that it
rode rather rough. He seemed to think that Randy's version looked like a
much more comfortable ride. Paul graciously posed for a picture with the
car and even signed his name on the center console (see page 15 of this
article). For those who don't remember, LeMat was in both the American Graffiti
movies. He played "John Milner" who drove the "piss yellow"
Deuce Coupe.
