When Andrew Gonzales told us he had a '29 Model A Ford he
wanted to turn into a Hot Rod, we expected to see the usual flatbed trailer
full of rusty parts pull up in front of the shop. The last thing we expected
was for him to drive up in this cherry resto. This car looked so nice sitting
in our parking lot that people thought we were getting ready to deliver
a finished job, not contemplating tearing it apart.
As good as the car looked though, Mr. Gonzales was having
trouble keeping the car running down the road with the original drive train.
And as long as you are going to have to replace the drivetrain, well, you
might as well go all the way.
As usual, the color has changed from what was proposed to
what ended up on the finished car. But the rest fits pretty well with the
original rendition.
On the day Andy took possession of his Model A he drove straight
to Cruisin' Grand and won an award. Pictured above are just some of the
crew that worked on this car.
