Motor & Transmission Mounts.
Time to start working on the motor and transmission mounts.
A couple of temporary motor mounts keep the engine in place while the permanent
mounts underneath are fabricated.
Clearances are going to be tight under the front end. One
fo the fabricators checks the clearance between the sway bar and power steering
rack hydraulic line. The oil pan has also been modified to fit over the
front crossmember.
On the left is one of the permanent front motor mounts. On
the right is another temporary motor mount near the firewall.
Because of the horsepower that we will be dealiing with, we
decided to go with a mid-plate between the motor and transmission. The mid-plate
serves as a combination rear engine/front transmission mount. the mid-plate
will be mounted directly to the frame and will provide more stability when
the engine applies torque to the mounts and things are less likely to get
twisted out of shape.
