Drips & Rails.
Drip rails always seem to be a problem regardless of what
condition the rest of the car is in. when they are doing their job they
collect water, divert it, and keep it from coming in through your car door,
and that's the problem. Where water can collect, rust will occur. These
rails weren't really bad, but drip rails are designed for function rather
than looks, and these did not fit with the Bird's new look.
After Tim finishes removing the old drip rails he'll weld
a continuous piece of 1/4-inch bar stock in its place. This will be scupted
into a "body-line" that will be more pleasing to the eye and still
function as a drip rail.

photos at the top of the page.
Frame rails, too, are getting worked on. This Bird is going
to have lots of horsepower under the hood and we don't want things to get
bent out of shape when it is applied. In addition to new frame rails set
wider than the originals and running the length of the body, Portions of
the uni-body are getting additional support below the door sills which have
been narrowed in the process.
